Bubblers are the key to cooling deep cores and hard-to-reach mold areas. Learn how these cooling inserts cut cycle time, eliminate hot spots, and improve part quality in injection molding.
Cooling time takes up 70–80% of the injection molding cycle. Quick couplings connect the lines, but they can't reach heat trapped in deep cores and thick walls. Bubblers solve this.
A bubbler is a cooling insert that pumps coolant into hard-to-reach mold areas, creating turbulent flow that extracts heat far faster than straight cooling lines.
How It Works
Coolant flows through an inner tube to the far end of a deep channel, then returns through the narrow gap between the tube and the channel wall. This forced, direction-changing flow breaks up the insulating boundary layer and pulls heat out efficiently.
Common Types
- Straight bubbler — most common, for deep cylindrical cores
- Baffle type — flat divider plate, for rectangular or slot-shaped cores
- Spray type — coolant jets directly onto the hottest point, for large-diameter cores
Materials: brass (most common), stainless steel (corrosion-resistant), beryllium copper (highest conductivity).
